Pryor student, 13, charged with making school shooting threat

FORT WALTON BEACH — Okaloosa police have charged a 13-year-old Pryor Middle School student with making a threat to kill or do bodily harm Tuesday night after sending a social media post that said “I want to shoot a school.”

The image sent through Snapchat consisted of a photo of an M4 assault rifle with the words, “I would kill people, I wanna shoot a school and round 2 of Florida,” according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy said he was playing a joke, he did not have any specific school in mind and did not mean anything by it, his arrest report said. The suspect said he took the image of the weapon from Google images.

The Snapchat post reportedly was sent as a group post, but one of the receivers reported it.
