Florida has garnered another No. 1 ranking in an online list, this one less than flattering. WalletHub designated Florida as the most sinful state in the nation in a recently released survey. The Sunshine State narrowly edged out California for the top spot. It measured categories including anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity and laziness, according to the website. Florida was ranked No. 1 in jealousy, No. 4 rank in vanity, No. 7 in laziness and No. 8 in lust. The study used data ranging from crime rates and health data to Google searches and other measures of how Floridians spend their free time. For example, to measure anger and hatred, the survey studied violent crime, bullying, hate crimes, sex offenders, number of mistreated children, hostile Internet comments and the number of mass shootings, as well as other factors. Jealousy was rated using data about thefts per capita and identity theft. Under the excesses and vice category, obesity, smoking rates, drug overdose deaths and alcohol use were studied, as well as the number of fast food restaurants per capita.
