admin Posted April 7, 2019 Share Posted April 7, 2019 April 5, 2019 - The man Panama City Police called a person of interest in a Thursday night shooting is now in custody. Michael Hunt, 53, was stopped while driving on highway 231 and Star Ave. Friday night around 8 pm Capt. Paul Powell with the Panama City Police Department confirmed Law Enforcement taking Hunt into custody for questioning. The shooting happened after 10:30 Thursday night on Allen Ave. in Panama City. Police say one person died and three others were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Police have active warrants on Hunt on unrelated sexual battery charges. Hunt had called the WMBB News13 Newsroom several times Friday afternoon and evening, proclaiming his innocence, saying he was going to turn himself in. He had initially wanted to come to the News13 studios to meet with officers but decided to turn himself into the jail Panama City Police Capt. Paul Powell confirmed that Hunt was stopped on Highway 231 and Star ave. and taken into custody Friday night. Powell thanking the Northwest Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force for their efforts in this case. The investigation into the shooting continues.
