PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Many people feel like they'll be waiting for eternity until they hear from FEMA.

If you've driven by Tennessee Street in Lynn Haven then you might have seen a skeleton sitting outside his yard with a sign reading "Waiting on FEMA." Although he apparently died waiting for FEMA, the sideshow pokes fun at the issue that actually echoes the sentiments of many locals.

We spoke with a FEMA representative who says that FEMA is still waiting for additional documents from many survivors to proceed with their cases. FEMA spokesperson Lenisha Smith says, "I understand that people are frustrated but there's a process that we have to go through. We have to make sure that we have all of the required documents that we need to provide them with the correct assistance. But come in and ask questions and ask us, 'What can I do to help further the process faster?'"

In Bay County there are two disaster recovery centers- one at the Bay County Library and one in the Callaway Community Center. Both are open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both centers will be closed New Year's Day. You can also call the FEMA help line at 1-800-621-3362.
