PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Wednesday Morning, the line was wrapped around the block as hundreds of parents waited to get gifts from Salvage Santa.

For nearly 40 years, Mike Jones, Bay District Schools Police Chief, has been restoring bicycles and making gifts available for parents who need them. but this was a year like no other as Hurricane Michael destroyed both homes and lives in the panhandle.

Jones said that despite the storm his mission would go on, and the parents who came on Wednesday morning say they are thankful.

Casie Jones, a mother from Bay county, said that, "I feel like that this is a blessing. Salvage Santa has helped out people like us. We are in devastaion. And to see all these people in need of help... I'm very grateful; I'm sure everybody else is very greatful. It doesn't happen that much, but we've gotten a lot of help."

If you still need a present Mike Jones said that there is still time. He can be reached at (850) 832-2976.
