admin
BAY COUNTY, Fla. - A man is arrested following a high speed chase but he refuses to give up once caught. Authorities said the chase started in Washington County and ended in Bay County near the intersection of 231 and Highway 20. Bay County officers took over the pursuit of the suspect and were able to catch and arrest the man who was driving. The chase began Sunday afternoon shortly after 3 p.m. but at this time, the identity of the man and why he engaged in a high-speed chase is unknown. The Florida Highway Patrol said that while they were taking the driver into custody, he just blurted out that he was drunk multiple times. The suspect was handcuffed behind his back, when a trooper came to assist and transport him to the jail. But-- the suspect somehow got his hands in front of him, crawled through the small window that divides the back and front seats in the patrol car and stole the vehicle. He then drove about six miles before surrendering. The driver, Anthony Scott Brown, 32 of Crestview, has been charged with grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence, giving false name, resisting arrest, and driving while license suspended.
