Now that Thanksgiving day is wrapping up, the Christmas shopping is beginning.

Starting with Black Friday.

Local law enforcement encourages everyone to be safe as they head out to catch the Black Friday deals.

They also suggest shopping with a plan. Even having a buddy system.

They remind everyone, do not leave items visible in cars. Either cover them or put them in your trunk.

Also, do not walk away from valuables like a purse or a wallet while in stores.

But, most importantly, be mindful of others.

"Look, we've been through enough here in Jackson County and the surrounding counties," said Capt. Scott Edwards, Jackson County sheriff's office. "Let's treat people like they need to be treated and let's get along."

Captain Edwards also said, remember, it's not worth going to jail over a shopping trip.
