admin
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to Bay County Commissioner Philip Griffitts, about 50,000 people in Bay County have applied for assistance from FEMA. Griffitts says of those 50,000, many have qualified for vouchers for hotels and transitional housing. Others have a qualified for construction assistance to help make their homes habitable, but when it comes to direct housing or what people call FEMA trailers, only one-hundred of the 50-thousand have been approved at this time. "There quite possibly will be more. FEMA just hasn't given us those numbers yet. We hope that the people that do need it, do quality for it and that FEMA takes good care of them. The county will look after them as well," Bay County Commissioner Griff Griffitts said.
