admin Posted November 1, 2018 Share Posted November 1, 2018 The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is now available in Bay County. The Department of Children and Families along with the U.S. Department of Agriculture has implemented DSNAP in Bay County to assist individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Michael. The program is meant for victims of the hurricane that are not presently receiving SNAP benefits. You must preregister on the DSNAP website prior to visiting the event being held at Bay High School. They will be in operation until November 4th from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. DCF will provide Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards to eligible individuals and families to use at authorized USDA food retailers. At a press conference, Interim Secretary of Agriculture Rebecca Kapusta commented, "We anticipate serving approximately 30,000 individuals in this community. As I've driven around and looked at the level of devastation in this community it is almost incomprehensible." The federal government has granted permission to conduct phone applications for those individuals in all 12 counties who may not be able to attend the in-person events.
