admin
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Two weeks after Hurricane Michael, locals are still rallying around each other for a hot meal, or just a day at the park. The group, 850 Strong cooked up hamburgers and hot dogs Wednesday afternoon at the Oakland Terrace Park Recreation Center in Panama City for anyone in need of a hot meal. The group cooked from noon to 5 p.m. and served more than 200 people. Organizers say even though the storm may have blown apart some homes, it's brought the community together. Cheyenne Cody, an event organizer said, "Nobody needs to be forgotten. We need to stay unified as a community. The storm has brought us a lot closer together and we just need to keep that spirit up." Melissa's Beachside Bakery also handed out baked goods for dessert.
