Lawmakers made the decision Thursday, in an effort to avoid a possible government shutdown. Before the move, Congress had until September 30th to sign off on a new financial package The decision will extend a lifeline to several pending funding bills for the military and energy sectors, which were due to run out on October first. This comes after President Trump signaled he may consider a government shutdown if congress did not pass a fair deal to fund the border wall.
