PANAMA CITY BEACH — A local man has been arrested after he allegedly threatened a skater at a local skate park with a BB gun, causing a father and son also at the park to fear for their lives. Preston James Miller, 19, was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and improper exhibition of a firearm after witnesses say he drove up to the skate park on McKelvey Road in Panama City Beach and retrieved what they believed to be a shotgun from another vehicle at the park before “racking” the firearm like he was putting a round in the chamber and confronted another skater at the park, according to police reports. One witnesses, who was at the park with his son, reported he was so afraid he helped his son over a six-foot fence before climbing it himself and running to a nearby store to call 911. Preston was arrested later during a traffic stop. Post-Miranda, he allegedly said the weapon was a BB gun and that he disposed of it in a culvert near Bay Point.
