Maxine Waters supporters set fire to the American flag outside the Democratic firebrand's Los Angeles office Thursday as way to counter an anticipated protest by a far-right militia group who never showed.

A modest few dozen people made their rebellious appearance despite a previous request by the congresswoman that supporters not be baited into confrontation with the Oath Keepers.

South Los Angeles residents joined activist groups as well as union workers, church leaders and more for the midday demonstration.

Shocking photographs captured outside the field office show the crowd stomping on the flag before circling around the stars and stripes as they cheer when it erupts into flames.

The Democratic counter protesters were heard chanting as they shouted: 'This is not the American flag, this is their flag.'

The group had been shouting a slew of other slogans such as 'black power' and 'Resist!'

Signs read things such as: 'Don't mess with our Queen Maxine,' 'We support you Maxine our congresswoman' as well as 'Trump/Pence must go!' and 'Deport Trump.'

The Los Angeles Police Department said there were no injuries and no arrests from the demonstration.

The Thursday demonstration in Los Angeles took place despite the no-show by Oath Keepers

The Oath Keepers call themselves the Guardians of the Republic despite them being labeled 'one of the largest radical anti-government groups in the U.S. today' by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The far-right militia group had issued a call to action to their followers to protest the Democratic lawmaker.

'This is both a protest against Maxine Waters' incitement of terrorism, and a stand FOR ICE and the Border Patrol, as they enforce the perfectly constitutional immigration and naturalization laws of this nation,' the group said in a statement.

The group claims 35,000 members who often dress in military gear and carry military-grade rifles at protests across the country.

Waters had asked her supporters not to engage with them.

'I am requesting those individuals and groups planning a counter-protest to not be baited into confronting the Oath Keepers with any demonstrations in opposition -such an occurrence would only exacerbate tensions and increase the potential for conflict,' she said in a statement.

'The Oath Keepers have a history of engaging in violent and provocative behavior,' she added.

While the lawmaker noted the Los Angeles Police Department would have officers on hand to ensure people's safety, police have not said whether any sort of investigation is underway.

The far-right group said their protests could go on for weeks.
