Johnathon Davis from Korn talks about solo album release date and more

Recommended Posts

Korn's Jonathan Davis has had a solo album in the works for quite some time. The details surrounding the release remain sparse, even though the singer released a music video for one of the songs in January. While guesting on the 2 Hours With Matt Pinfield podcast, he revealed the album's release date and even said a Korn covers album is on the table.

While Davis has yet to decide on a title for his solo debut, he confirmed it will be released on May 25 through Sumerian Records. “I just finished [the album] last night actually. I’ve still been working on it. I’ve been working on songs being mixed, so the last song I finished last night. It’s being mixed today and it’ll be done," Davis told Pinfield (transcription via The PRP)

With his headlining tour set to launch on April 6, fans will have to take a leap of faith and go into the show a little blind, save for having heard the single, "What it Is." He'll be backed by a familiar face with Korn's Ray Luzier sitting behind the kit on the trek and the remainder of the supporting cast is still unknown.

During the conversation, Davis also told Pinfield that Korn have been "talking about a covers album for years." The band has already tracked "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band as well as Billy Squier's "The Stroke." “We got some good ones," the singer commented. "We’ll probably do… We’re still picking ones—it’s been a work in progress for a long time. But whenever we get a little free time, we go ahead and do a couple songs. One day it’ll see the light of day.”
